This model is just one of those knives I never thought existed due to its almost robotic design. Tac-Force's model TF-705GY is a part serrated liner lock knife with a gun metal, gray block style, grooved aluminum handle. Gerber's Finest: Gerber Knives from Gerber Bear Grylls

You watched the Gerber Bear Grylls Ultimate Knife video demonstration in one of my previous posts. Now you and I both will feast our eyes on Gerber's Gator Combo Axe with knife.

Gerber's Ripstop I Pocket Knife

One of my fondest memories involving pocket knives were those shared with my grandfather and his old, beat up collection of them. He had kept in a drawer a Hopalong Cassidy pocket knife with bottle opener and standard blade. This commemorative had the famed cowboy sitting upon his horse. I will never forget that knife.

Many pocket knives today keep their traditional, old-fashioned handles and the like. Then there are foldout knives that display a hint of futurism, almost science fiction based, before one's time appeal. I see that personally in Gerber's Ripstop I.

Emergency preparedness

Due to the catastrophic and life threatening events the human race endures worldwide, it is vital, if at all possible, to be prepared. Due to social unrest, natural disasters and the like, there are steps to be taken when considering survival. When faced with a loss of electricity, no running water or possibly being trapped in your home due to a massive snowfall or flood, it is extremely important to have the necessary tools, provisions and utilities to maintain.

As an inclusion below, I chose various products to help stir your thoughts about emergency preparedness. I did this not to push a sale and be a nuisance but because I care. I very much hope that no one is ever faced with disaster although disasters are inevitable. It is just that I have heard too many tragic stories of those who were not prepared when they could have been. Being unprepared cost many people their lives. I do not wish that upon anyone. I do not want this to happen to you. I just need to let you know that if you have not already considered particular survival gear, food supplies, etc., please just take a look at the Emergency Preparedness section below.

Electric knife sharpener by Presto

This electric sharpener produces razor-sharp edges using the same rapidly rotating Sapphirite grinding wheels used by professional shops. A two-stage system allows knives to be ground and sharpened on the Stage 1 half of the machine and then honed on the Stage 2 half. Blade guides hold the knife at the ideal sharpening angle for each side of the blade, as it is drawn slowly towards the user and kept parallel to the countertop. Featuring a blade with a fine edge on one side and saw on the other, this machete weighs in at only 1 lb. and is approximately 25" in length. A riveted, nylon sheath is included with this machete that is made from rugged black oxide, coated steel.

Coleman's Trailmaster Knife

Following up on the Coleman brand, I wanted to mention this knife. It is their Trailmaster, fixed blade knife with sheath. With a handle constructed of natural wood, this exemplary camping tool features a drop point blade with fine edge. Measuring 8" in length, the blade alone measures 3.5" and is manufactured with 420J2 stainless steel, finished with satin. This knife weighs in at an impressive 6.7 ounces.

Coleman also produces a wide variety of camping supplies and accessories such as lanterns. Their line of outdoor camping cookware and the like are seen in almost any sporting goods aisle or specialty store.

Coleman's Camp Axe

What a beast. In its own appeal, this seamless camp axe of carbon steel excellence is one of Coleman's finest. I haven't posted many axes and it is high time I did. They are as necessary to camping as knives are. For hunting, an axe is also handy for chopping limbs from on or around your tree stand in the woods, etc. This axe features a nonslip grip handle constructed of forged, ergonomic steel.

Coleman also manufacturers a terrific line of knives. I remember visiting a Coleman franchise where I had purchased a fixed blade knife of theirs which included a nylon sheath. Its durability and strength are steadfast to this day. Even after years of use.

One of the Best of Gerber Knives: Gerber's Fine Edge Knife
