Japanese Nobleman Figurine Made of Porcelain
Lladro Japanese Nobleman I Porcelain Figurine: An image of dignity, decorum, and strength, the Japanese Nobleman I figurine from Lladro emanates history, especially when displayed alongside its counterpart, Japanese Nobleman II. Created by sculptor Alfredo Llorens, the two sculptures are replicas of antique wooden statues found at the Toshogu Shrine in Nikko, Japan. Crafted from porcelain and painted by hand, they depict Zuishin, noblemen who served as bodyguards for dignitaries and their shrines. Traditionally seen in pairs, the figures carry swords, bows, and quivers, and sit on tiger skins. They are dressed in old court costume with kikyo flower kimonos. Stately pieces for an entryway, living room, or home library, the Japanese Nobleman figures measure 15 by 13-1/2 inches and first entered the Lladro catalog in 2008. They are available in a limited edition of 1500.
