Knife for Christmas

When I was a teenager, or little sea urchin as some would say, my father had gifted me with what resembled a Japanese Samurai sword one Christmas. Only this Samurai sword was considered miniature due to its sheer size. My father purchased his find at a local flea market. It turned out to be the Kubon by Cold Steel.

The Kubon is a Tanto-style boot knife actually named after the Japanese word for "soldier". This lightweight knife has a blade made of Japanese AUS 8A stainless steel with a reinforced point that's highly resistant to bending or breakage. The blade's spine runs nearly to the tip of the blade for added durability and a checkered, nonslip Kraton handle has minimum bulk with a great deal of grip. I had watched a video of 2 hunters tracking wild pigs with dogs. Each of these hunters grasped Cold Steel's Boar Hunter (pictured) when hot on the pigs' trail. Batman's Batarang

The twin razors of this Batarang are so sharp, the Joker himself would cringe by just the sight of it. If need be, the Riddler, Penguin, Two Face and Mr. Freeze would meet with this tool. The blades of the razors are composed of 440 stainless steel. The black finished ABS handle is shaped like the Batman logo and imprinted with traditional Batman insignia. When folded, this piece exhibits the shape of the Batarang. With a liner lock mechanism and thumb studs, the knife measures 5-3/4" closed and 11" when fully opened. I spotted this Army knife online via Google images with a commemorative theme in mind, the Armed Forces from around the world. I am giving very serious thought to purchasing this exact model for myself due to the fact that this knife exhibits a unique blend of camouflage, let alone the many tools Swiss Army is known for. An all inclusive multi tool with the infamous fatigue design, this Malaysian Army Knife is another wonderful addition to the Victorinox collection.

Alloyed and ceramic knife sharpeners

Effortlessly sharpen most of your cutlery, hunting knives, knives for fishing or other smooth blade you often depend on at work. I remember having to cut paper bundle straps open when working for a newspaper distribution warehouse. Utility knives wore too often and were too thin of a blade. They couldn't handle the pounds of pressure behind a machine strapped newspaper bundle. I therefore purchased not a box cutter but a spring assisted, Tac-Force knife. Fixed in place, the blade of my Tac-Force was immovable, durable and slicing thick bundle straps like cheese. I used a ceramic knife sharpener such as the one pictured above to graze an edge on my knife so sharp it could cut for weeks without having to be sharpened. I also used an alloy, high carbon steel sharpener like the one pictured below as well.
