The importance of protecting this majestic bird of prey was highlighted in the late twentieth century when it was discovered the the Bald Eagle was on the brink of extinction in the USA. Fortunately conservationists raised awareness about this stunning bird and implemented successful protection programs which resulted in the Bald Eagle being removed from the Endangered Species List in 2007.
