How do you compete with Vistaprint?


As a distributor or even supplier, we observe Vistaprint's tremendous web presence. We have to admit this is due not only to their quality printing of business cards but because of their prices. As a distributor myself I receive emails daily asking, "Can you beat this?" "Can you match this?" I admit, I can't touch it.

Suppliers and distributors both have confided that custom artwork offers a perk when offering competitive value. Vistaprint has embellished a promotional line upon checkout when ordering business cards for example, exhibiting mugs, car magnets, hats, t-shirts and other itinerary that would appeal well with the same information you are checking out with printed on your business cards. Is it only a matter of time until Vistaprint offers thousands of promotional products within the reach of their customers?

Some of us also notice that Vistaprint doesn't readily make available an email address and/or phone number on their homepage. One would need to register an account to attain any of this information. This is so they may email you sales flyers. Some would much rather ascertain contact information from a printer, etc. before registering for anything. This too, I have heard in some circles, is another advantage over Vistaprint.

What do you suggest for being competitive in this arena? Please comment on your experiences when dealing with business card printing.
